Our original list of 30 has dwindled to 10 names. Losing in last week's voting were: Seth, Philip, Indiana, Timothy, Noah, and Josiah.
Up until this summer all the boy cousins had names ending in -s: Curtis, Lucas, Silas, and Titus. But rather than adding to that tongue-twister, the first boy cousin born this year, our nephew Levi, broke the mold, and we have decided to continue that shift by going with a name that doesn't end in -s. So sorry to all of you who liked Nicolas and Marcus, but we have dropped them as well.
That leaves us with the TOP TEN! So please vote for your favorite name(s) from the list below. Make sure to let us know your top choice, then second and third choice, because the resident math geek has created an overly complicated spreadsheet to assign points to each vote, weighted based on relationship (grandma, aunt, cousin, friend, etc.), that will then calculate to let us know the most popular name... at least the most popular among everybody who is still following these blog posts!
At the end, we will also vote and hopefully be able to make a final decision! We would love to receive input from our friends and family about which name would be the best for our new baby. (Well, actually, to be honest, Matt doesn't really care what people think and would have named the kid Linus). But speaking for myself, your voting is not only influencing my decision, but could also be helpful in breaking a tie if it comes down to that.
Aaron (#50)
Benjamin (#19)
Caleb (#32)
Eli (#58)
Gideon (#412)

Gramma Kaye likes:
Micah, Benjamin, and Eli
I like four of them better than the rest. 5th through 10th don't excite me.
1st Reuben (#942, alternate spelling #323) unique, yet normal. And makes for a nice set of nick-names when they are teenagers (see #3).
2nd Isaac (#35) I like the way this sounds with the whole name.
3rd Benjamin (#19)(When they are teenagers they can all have one syllable shorten names (same holds for Reuben).)
4th Simeon (not in the top 1000) - I like this, but it is probably too unique.
5th Eli (#58) okay, but doesn't really excite me.
6th Micah (#104)- okay
7th Gideon (#412) - okay, but maybe a little too different
8th Caleb (#32)- too popular
9th Aaron (#50) - (Not this spelling, but) this name is too often used for girls
10th Malachi (#164) - Because of which syllables are accented it sounds too choppy when you say the whole name. Plus I think some people will go "huh".
Grandma Ries
