On
Saturday we headed out into the "country" outside of Salem to get our
Christmas tree. It was pretty cold so I bundled Silas up. He generally
doesn't like being confined, and I think the full body suit made him a
little grumpy.
But we caught a few half-smiles.
We finally found the perfect tree (Matt was a little annoyed that it was the hundredth one we looked at =)
Watching daddy cut it down...
And here is Silas putting up his first ornament...
Our
holiday adventure began Thursday with a traditional Turkey dinner at
the Ries house. My mom and I went a little crazy making pies. This was
toning it down actually, there were originally 5 desserts on the agenda.
On
Friday we hosted the Jones clan at our house for ham, potatoes, green
beans, corn, and rolls--and more desserts of course. Uncle Andy tried to
convince Silas that it was time to learn to crawl, but he didn't seem
too concerned with it. I think he was more interested in taking a swipe
at Andy's beard.
I am sadly behind in
blogging about our fall happenings! At the end of October Gramaidi came
to visit (Matt's grandmother on his mom's
side), commencing a whirlwind of activities, including a trip to IKEA,
eating lots of weisswurst and spaetzle, playing games, and a trip to the
pumpkin patch.
Here's our little pumpkin,
not quite sure what to do with so many bright round objects just
waiting to be put in his mouth!
Finally, one came close enough to check out!
Hmm... it's too big for my mouth!
Then Matt decided he wanted to carve out a pumpkin and put Silas in it.
He was quite happy to get naked...
...but not so sure about sitting on a sticky wet pumpkin.
