Big Balls in the Sky

Silas woke me up Sunday morning about 7am and we looked out the window to see a couple dozen hot air balloons floating over our house. I rushed outside with the camera, plopped Silas in the stroller, and we took a walk around the neighborhood to watch as many of the balloons landed in the fields nearby. One went right over our heads, maybe 30 to 50 feet off the ground, and the occupants waved and said hi. Silas was amazed.

When it was all over Silas kept asking for "more ball" as we walked home ("more" is one of his favorite signs to use - he's also pretty good with the sign for "please").

Too much testosterone for me!

I was even further outnumbered by the boys as our nephew Lucas stayed with us for a few days. It was really weird having a teenage boy in the house. I gained a greater respect for my sister-in-law and also got a little scared for my future. I think this picture pretty much sums up our weekend:

Unlike his little sister's visit a few weeks ago, which was filled with non-stop commentary, Luke's stay with us was very quiet. My questions and attempts to start a conversation were generally met with grunts or one-word replies (except my comment of "You should really take a shower," which simply received a blank stare - sorry Deb, I tried!).

So the boys had a fun weekend but I am left feeling desperately in need of some girl time!

Where did my little baby go?

He was last seen resting in his crib like this:

But now, all I can find in the crib is this big boy:

Field Trip

We took a trip to the Gilbert House (a children's museum) today with Grandma and the cousins. Silas discovered all sorts of new things. His favorite room was the bubble room:

He also enjoyed the balls (of course!):

And learning to do things with his cousins:

He went down his first slide:

And happily took center stage while his cousins and some other kids attempted to put on a play:

But I think the highlight of the day was the sucker that Grandma bought him for the way home. He was quiet for a full 30 minutes.

Fire Department picnic

Saturday was the annual Fire Department picnic. Silas had a ton of fun playing at the park and splashing in the pool with his cousins.
