Two Weeks

Titus is two weeks old, and already sleeping 6-7 hours straight at night. He was 9 lbs, 9 oz. at his check up, so almost back to birth weight.

First Week

Titus' first week of life has been fairly uneventful. On day 6 he finally took a break from sleeping long enough to make eye contact with me.

"When I grow up, I want to be just like my little brother!"

I took Titus' one week pictures with him in the same outfit Silas wore for his.... can you tell which is which?

Six Years Together

I'm not sure what amazes me more -- how quickly the past six years have gone since we started dating... or how young we look in this picture!

Hint #10 - The Finale

Here's your last clue - you really have to think about this one!10. Alphabetically, the first letter of the name comes after the last letter of the name.

9. You can find the first and middle names in the same book of the Bible.
8. The first letter of the name comes after G in the alphabet.
7. The name has two vowels.
6. The name does not start with the letter J.
5. The middle name is Paul (therefore, that is not the first name).
4. The name does not contain more than two syllables.
3. The name appears in at least three different books of the Bible.
2. The name does NOT, however, appear in the Top 100 most popular male names for 2007.
1. The name appears on the SSA's list of the 1,000 most popular male names for 2007.

P.S. Congratulations to Andy & Danae for being the first to figure out the name!

Baby Update

Well, it looks like I will soon be done with everyone's well-intentioned (but not very well-thought-through) questions (see post below). Not that I really had the chance to use my creative albeit sarcastic answers anyway.

The doctor says this baby is coming out! By all indications he should be making an appearance this weekend, but if not, she's going to give him a little encouragement on Monday. I've been having strong contractions, sometimes for a couple hours at a time, but they keep stoping just before I'm ready to head to the hospital. Everything else looks ready (baby's head engaged, cervix effaced, etc.), so he may just need a little push. I'm hoping he just comes on his own before then. Silas needed about a gallon of pitocin even after my water broke, though. Everyone keeps telling me this baby will come more easily... I hope they're right!

I'm still trying to think of one more name game hint that doesn't completely give the name away... we'll see. Otherwise, look for the answer by early next week!

Three questions NOT to ask a pregnant woman

So when's that baby coming?
Oh, I've been waiting for him to text message me and tell me exactly when he'll be here. How should I know?!?

You're still pregnant?!?
No, I just brought a watermelon to the potluck and decided to carry it underneath my shirt. Do you see a baby in my arms? Duh, I'm still pregnant!

Wow, are you ready to be done?
No, my goal is to carry this kid for 42 weeks, I just love being unable to tie my shoes, drink a glass of wine, or go more than 2 hours without having to pee. Yeah, I'm ready to be done!

I can't go out in public anymore

Today at Safeway a man, probably in his 70s, walked up to my shopping cart and started talking to Silas. I'm somewhat used to that, but this guy actually started tickling Silas and "getting his nose." Needless, to say, Silas was a little freaked out and I wasn't too pleased either. Then the man launched into a story about how he was the oldest of 10 kids and how they were all two years apart and he informed me that I needed to get started on another one because it was great having all your siblings two years apart.

At this point, I'm getting pretty annoyed that he is still poking at Silas even though Silas was obviously pulling away, although I'm flattered that he managed to NOT notice my 46-inch waist. Finally in the midst of his spiel about how I should have another baby he looks down, notices my stomach, and says, "Oh, you're already ahead of me!" Okay, so I still have a huge stomach, he's just not very observant.

Then, I went from annoyed to really annoyed when he reached out and started to rub my stomach as he talked about how Silas would love having a baby brother. Okay, it's one thing to poke at my son, I know, he's cute, but seriously... if this man had looked anything but harmless and a little senile, I would have just taken off then and there and not cared how rude it was. I have no problem when friends and family ask to feel the baby kick or want to touch my stomach. I even brush it off when people I barely know at church come up and rub my baby bump. But when a total stranger at the grocery store starts patting my tummy, I draw the line!

I'm officially staying holed up in this house until the baby is ready to come!
