Titus: 6 months

Weight: 19.4 lbs
Height: 27 in
Clothing size: 9 months
Age Silas was at the same weight: 10 months

Accomplishments: crawling, drooling, taking the 20-minute power nap so mom can't get anything done, knocking over the garbage can to eat the trash, and generally getting into as much trouble as he can.

Nicknames: Ty-Ty, Titus the Tank, Little Brother

Adoring his always-affectionate big brother:

If I put Titus down and walk out of the room, he will immediately burst into tears. So this has become one of his favorite perches--chilling in the swing with a good view of mom working in the kitchen. Notice the subtle smile behind the pacifier.... he knows he's ruling the roost around here.

It's Snowing!

Silas was pretty excited to come downstairs this morning and discover that it was snowing (as he says, "sa-NO").

He wanted to run right out the backdoor in his p.j.s, but I made him get dressed first. I even got him to wear a hat, which he never does! I tried to convince him he needed mittens, but he kept saying "mi-tens off" so I let him go without at first.

Then, when his hands got really cold, he came over to me and held them up and said "kiss!" Apparently mommy's kisses can fix not only owies but also extreme coldness. I warmed them up and tried the mittens again. He inspected them for a while then pulled them off once more. But the hat stayed on the whole time!

Titus has a runny nose so he had to stay inside. He watched the snow fall through the window while sitting in his high chair.

Watch out, he's mobile!

This should not be happening! He's five and a half months old, I should not walk away for 20 seconds and return to find him half way across the room! Aahhhhh!

Out and About

I wouldn't say it's "warm" yet but it has been uncharacteristically dry here in Oregon this winter, so we've been bundling up and going for walks as much as possible -- Silas has a lot of energy to burn off!

He puts his hands in his pockets when he gets cold:

There's a park a few blocks from our house, and we stopped there for the first time today. Silas threw his first major tantrum when we left... I carried him kicking and screaming for two blocks, and whining the rest of the way home. He loves the "lyde."

And Titus loves the swing!

Book Recommendations

Sorry to disappoint the grandparents, but this post contains no kid news or pictures. Hard as it is to believe, I do have other stuff going on in my life. :)

One of my goals this year is to read a book every month. I haven't done much reading for myself the past few years because I spent so much time reading books for work that I preferred to do other things in the evenings. But I'm excited to get back into it. I'm sure I won't be consuming a book every two days like I did in jr. high, but so far, in January I read Holy Fools and in February I read For Women Only.

Now, I'm looking for some recommendations for books to read this year--both fiction and non-fiction. Have you read any great books lately that entertained, inspired, educated, or excited you?
