D.C. visit

This spring, we took advantage of the introductory sale on Alaska Airlines' direct flight from Portland to Washington, D.C. and hopped on a plane to visit cousin Rosie (oh, yeah, and her parents).

Cousin love...

We ate amazing food the whole time, of course...

Spring Snow

This winter we had a couple of dustings of snow here on the valley floor, and the boys headed out each time to eat it or hit it with golf clubs.

Then spring came and we got 5 inches of snow!

I built them a fort which they called the "fortress of solitude" and Batman and Superman hung out in it til they got too cold.

There was still much eating of snow, both inside and out:

Spring, we're ready for you!

I'm out of creative ideas like this for indoor entertainment:

We need more days like today so we can do more of this:

A little about spring

I think we've broken just about every record for rainfall in Oregon this spring, and consequently we haven't had much in the way of picture-worthy activities. It's pretty sad. We actually had to resort to riding trikes around the empty garage this morning. Anyway, the grandparents are complaining that I haven't posted in a while, so here's the best I could come up with.

For my birthday, Matt got me a Wii game console. The boys think it's a lot of fun to have the remotes.

We eat ice cream despite the fact that it's 50 degrees and raining.

In a continued effort to combat the boredom, we got Netflix on the Wii. So, you'll find the boys--probably a little too often--like this:

Sun, when are you going to come out and stay out???

On a brighter note, recently Titus decided to start sleeping in the trundle bed in brother's room. He kept coming out of his own room after we would put him down in the evening, and it was taking us an extra hour to get him to sleep. Plus, he was still waking up one or two times a night crying.

So one night we put him in with Silas and he stayed there the whole night. He rarely even wakes up in the middle of the night anymore. In fact, it actually seems like they are both sleeping better!

Even more exciting is that I get to reclaim my office / craft room. I've already done a number on the closet, and I can't wait to re-do the rest of the room! :)

Festival of Flowers

April showers bring May flowers (and if you live in Oregon, more rain). To celebrate here in Jefferson we have the annual Festival of Flowers. This year our indoor park kids entertained the crowds with a little parade. We dressed them all up as flowers and little bugs. Here we have Silas the bee and Titus the ladybug.

They were a little shy about all the attention:

Afterward they got to help Grandma buy some flowers. They love to be helpers. Titus points vehemently at himself and says "big boy!" whenever he wants you to let him do something by himself.

Waiting for Spring

The weather keeps tricking us and being nice and sunny one day then rainy and cold the next. This weekend was a little chilly and Titus had a stuffy nose so he had to stay inside while Silas got to go in the backyard and play with his ball.

I guess Silas felt sorry for him and came over to say hi. I'm a little embarrassed by how dirty my windows are in this picture, but you can see how they get that way:
