Spotlight on Silas

My oldest boy is developing quite a personality. It's definitely an adventure having an almost-two-year-old. Sometimes when we get out of the car at Grandma's house or at church, Silas will yell, "Run, run, run!" and just take off. He loves pointing out trucks, and balls, and airplanes, and it seems like he has a new word every day.

I can't tell if Silas is right- or left- handed because he's always using both, whether it's a crayon in each hand for coloring or double-fisting one of his favorite foods. Speaking of food....

At lunch on Sunday, Matt sat down next to Silas with a sandwich and asked, "Do you want some?" Silas eagerly opened his mouth, then after finishing that bite, said, "More some!"

Silas is very good about giving hugs and kisses, and also makes sure that you remember to give him a kiss every time he hurts himself in the least. If you don't hurry, though, he'll just take care of it himself:

Silas really likes to be helpful, and always wants to unload the dishwasher by dumping everything in the silverware drawer. He also likes to transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer. Once he's done pulling the last piece of clothing from the washer, he will stick his head in as far as he can get it and announce, "All gone!"

Don't be fooled, though.... Silas isn't adorable all the time. This is the look he gives me when I tell him something he doesn't want to hear.

Right now we are working on learning to share. Some of it might be sinking in. The other day, Silas was playing with a toy next to us while I was getting Titus dressed. Titus reached out and grabbed hold of the toy and Silas immediately said, "No, Ti-ti! Share!"

I have to agree with Matt that this is a pretty fun age. I love watching Silas learn how to do new things, and experiment with putting words together. I do kinda miss the peace and quiet sometimes. We are definitely blessed to have grandparents close by to help out!

Friends

Silas has been enjoying having some friends over this winter. He still has quite a bit to learn about sharing his toys (especially the ball!) but he is very affectionate toward other kids his age.

I think Morgan got him hooked on talking on the phone:

It's amazing how you can put two boys and a box together and create a half hour of entertainment:

Conway and Silas both like giving big knock-you-over hugs:

Titus: 5 months

Weight: 18.5 lbs
Length: 26.5 in.

"Uh, excuse me mom, I need to be in this picture too."

Titus likes: seeing mom & dad's faces, laughing at Silas, eating toes, eating cereal... really, eating almost anything.

He dislikes: falling asleep, waking up, and mashed peas!

Still not sure about: brother's "hugs."

Dinner Time!

As we put Silas in his booster seat in the evening, he likes to call out, "Dinna tiiimmme!" However, he is quite the picky eater. Last night he only wanted to eat the salmon:

Titus, on the other hand, will put anything within grabbing distance in his mouth, including table legs:

Must...catch...brother

Titus has been sitting up unassisted for about a week now. I don't know if this should be attributed to his intense desire to follow Silas everywhere or the fact that he's built like a tree trunk around the middle, but it seems rather soon for him to be sitting up already!

He also likes to hold his own bottle:

More noise in our house

Thanks to my daddy who spoils me and my mom who lets him, I'm currently enjoying my early birthday present, which Silas calls my "an-o." He's very excited.

Titus likes to chill out in the bean bag and listen:

When Silas gets tired of playing he gets down to give Titus a hug, to which Titus responds by trying to eat him:
