An update on Silas

Silas is just a couple months shy of 3 years old, and is already quite precocious. Not knowing a word does not stop him from communicating his thoughts. The other day after arriving at our destination I was busy helping Titus with his coat while Silas sat still buckled in his seat. Looking down at his car seat harness, Silas said, "Hey, buckle me out!"

It's so funny to have a front row seat to a child developing his personality. Already Silas has a favorite color (green), a favorite character (Lighting McQueen), and a total do-it-myself attitude. When he wants to do something himself (like use the bathroom) he politely asks, "Hey, can you go away now?" Last night we sent him to the kitchen to fetch us a snack and he came back with a 1/2 gallon of ice cream AND a spoon. Quite an accomplishment considering he can't see into, but can only reach into, the silverware drawer because of its height.

Recently Silas got to have a special day with Papa, an avid photographer whose favorite subject is, of course, his grandsons. Here's a few shots:

My dad also taught him to say, "Papa, I need some barbeque!" He really does enjoy it.

Well that's it for March. After being rather holed up this winter, I expect we'll plan some fun activities for the spring, so look for some more exciting blog posts in the coming months! :)
